The Peavey classic 50 has become a top competitor against the very popular Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.
Features
The Classic 50 has a standard control panel with an EQ, channel volume, master volume, and gain controls. The classic style knobs are easy to rotate and dial in a tone.
The highlight of the amp is having the additional master volume, so you can crank up the gain and still play at a resonable volume. Being a 50 watt amp, the amp is very loud, plenty loud to play gigs with. In fact, you’ll probably be told to turn down a little with this amp if you bring it to a jam night. 🙂
While the gain channel is great, the clean tone is also very good. The amount of power the amp has gives it the ability to stay clean while still getting loud. The clean channel will get very loud before you start to get some natural distortion without being on the gain channel.
The Bottom Line
The Peavey Classic line of amps are all great amps. The downside would be the reverb tank, but there are many great external reverbs available.
Who Is This Amp Best For?
This amp is best for someone that wants a classic tube tone at a great price, but also wants a little more gain in their tone than what you can achieve with the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.
